RE : Afterlife review

Before we get the review under way, I finished a request from aeron (bukan) leonhart. Okay sorry, no Dante. This will have to do. Before you say anything, please full view in DA. I don't want to post the whole thing on fb. http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/art/Half-naked-Lady-180325019

Consider I owe you one Dante. I'll do it when I have time, maybe not so soon.

Again.. Full view in DA please. Just a few clicks, I'd click it for you if I could.

Now that's out of the way. The review...

First thing about RE is it can't escape its game heritage. It's one of franchise that even non-gamer would know, like Final Fantasy. I personally think RE4 is awesome, better than most X360 games. It defines action game as whole. Sadly, RE isn't known for its great story or dialogue. To be fair, it sucks in that department, like B movie written by high schooler.

With that pedigree, will the movie rise in cinematic way? No. You probably have seen one of, if not all, previous RE movies. Well they are not that good. And one more thing, I didn't watch it in 3D, it wasn't available and the clerk said it wasn't any good. After my traumatic encounter with Last Airbender, I don't feel like missing much.. Maybe wet Ali Larter :)

This is wet Ali Larter :D

Okay let's just get to the point. The story has so many plot holes. It's just an excuse to slaughter zombies, you really shouldn't take it seriously. The dialogue is decent, not great, but I have heard worse. Aside from the poster trio, the rest of the cast is laughable. A black dude, preferably athlete. An Asian dude, preferably office boy. A liability, you know when you see them. A cute chick to feed the monster. Cliche.. No other word to describe.

The director used all RE classic tricks. The doggy zombie, although the split head is good on movie, the scare-you-crow, the kiss-me zombie, it even kinda ripped-off Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, the sommersaults etc. The fight with Wesker even mimicked the exact same scene from RE5, just swap Sheva, the hot black chick, with Claire. Man, the originality astounded me.

The guys from SH team are considering legal action right now.

To his credit, at least he didn't use steroid Chris. Wentworth Miller form Prison Break plays Chris, Ali Lartee from Heroes played Claire. For a family that has zombie slaying as career, it could be so much more. There are many funny moments or lines that could work for these two. Such wasted opportunity. They are both at least a bit decent, but not exactly their game's counterparts.

So the main burden must be shoulder by Milla Jovovich. She is, despite her tiny breast, quiet intriguing. Maybe the lithe posture or the cold stare, but she is good as action star. It's not about artistic actress capability, but it's more like her niche. Shawn Roberts as Wesker, not sure who is this. He got a bad deal. Wesker has absolutely no room for character improvement and a more wimp douche bag version of the game.

Catch the glasses trick.. from RE5... which is from K' of KOF..

One more nod to the spam overuse of slow-mo. This movie has the slow-mo of two or three movies combined. I was very open minded her. Ilike RE and zombie movies, but I still can't give this movie some decent rate. 5/10.. Oh all right.. 5.5/10..

If you manage to read this far, I'm open for request. Basically anything you want, I'll try it. It's FREE! ah the favorite word of humanity.. Just hit comment or something, I'll work it out. It's a wrap.

Centurion Review.

was gonna go for RE : Afterlife, but it haven't come out, so Centurion would do.. My uncle said it was okay, beside it was either this or King of Fighters or something. If Hollywood has one consistent trend, it's that game-to-movie always suck. Well RE and PoP are decent, but they are just barely.. and my drawing http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/art/OC-Vice-kinda-179725539

My OC.. Vice..
I have had it with this bare minimalist scanner... I'll buy top notch one when I've enough money.
Yes, it looks like Anggun.. Sue me

Centurion isn't another epic medieval movie. It has some war scenes, but it's more of a group of men trying to survive rather than large open battle. The story itself remains simple. A legion of Roman soldiers, Ninth Legion, was dispatched to solve a stalemate with the Picts. They are tribal guerrilla people who use brutal sneak attack and surprise tactic to overwhelm the Roman. Although not as well equipped and have less number than Roman, they managed to beat them badly.

The story follows Quintus Dias, the titular Centurion in an attempt to free the general and get the hell out of the enemy's line. Quintus Dias is played by Michael Fassbender. I knew he was at 300, but I didn't know he was at Basterds as well. He served his role well. The desperate noble hero with newly acquired reponsibility to get his men to safety. The only thing is he's not that memorable. He didn't stand out much. I know it's hard not to expect Leonidas from 300 or Spartacus, but he didn't have that leader charisma.

Have you notice the guy at 300.. I'm not sure at first but he's one of the dead 299..

Dominic West as Virilius, the respected leader of Ninth Legion, have more screen presence. It's a far cry from his back-stabbing queen effing role in 300 and he pulled it off. He's the run wild soldier type, but surprisingly has very good leadership. The rest of the soldier aren't that memorable as well. There is one called Leonidas, not the romantic movie guy, Marcros, whose name sounds like anime, but "SPOILER" you only remember them for their death scenes.

"SPOILER" The antagonist came in form of Etain, played by Olga Kurylenko, the Bond girl from Hitman and Max Payne. I kinda remember her. She's small and thin with short hair. Now she has tough character to play, a mute one. She's a hunter of the Pict with some cruel past. This role is hard, I'm trying to write a story and it has mute character as well. I do it in first person view so it's easier to understand her. That doesn't translate well to screen with mute char. She only has pissed off and "I'm-gonna-cut-your-dick-off" faces the entire movie.

Olga on her Roman killing day

It's better if she showed happiness when she killed her enemies, but no she still seemed pissed off. Dude, my kill wasn't rad enough, kill some more. There's a line that said her only joy came from killing Roman, but I couldn't see it through the emo medieval look. It's a good thing I saw this movie, it's an input on the mute char.

The writing needs a mention here. It was great. The writer and director Neil Marshall has cinematic albeit ancient way of narrative. It's another input for me. Some lines are cliche, but he didn't lose focus and went for 300 vibe like some Chinese movie (Strom Warrior. I'm looking at you). It doesn't has many CG as well, it's a plus. The shot of the scenery is good, some remind me of LOTR.

Olga on her day job

The battle deserves some mention as well. It was bloody, brutal and straight to the point. Some battle even became a stab-fest. It was almost comedical, but I think it's realistic. 300 choreograph is great, it's fluid, but sometime in your face approach can be good too. The gore is staggering and quiet frankly I'm surprised it went through Indo cencorship.

The movie is more of individual struggle rather than grandiose stuff of legend. But what it does, it does well. The irony is this can be pretty much better than RE : Afterlife. Rate 7/10.

My little pieces of heaven..

I decided to make trivia note and serious note regularly. So last time was fun fun note, now a more serious one.

First my drawing.

http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/#/d2yrb3e

My first OC.. Details in the link. Visit and full view plz.

I've already said that I saw a talented writer's blog recently. She has forty something articles and every one of them are cleverly written. I also saw brilliant artists in DA, some of them don't even have commission. So I wonder, why write or draw so many? I think as time passed, I'm beginning to understand. Why do writers write? Or painter paint? It's because they can't NOT to.

It's human nature to associate themselves with things they know. Things that they can relate to. It's a way to search the meanng of our existence. We search the meaning of life in each other. There is bound to be a way for one to cling to reality. Some things that can be beam of light in midst of darkness. Every one need something. It doesn't matter who.

Takamin art.. with pen, that lousy pen we use at school. Talent surpassed medium.

Many find it in religion, their jobs or hobby. It just the way it is. We must find order in chaos. I think that's why every one go to cinema in the weekend, some go to church or vihara every week. I find it in drawing and writing. Simple stuffs that give life meaning. My only regret that I didn't find it sooner.

Now I just did my first Original Character. It took me almost four months. It's feels free, with reference I need to watch the line, the character must be the same etc. With OC, I'll just go crazy and do whatever. This is what art must suppossed to be like. It's addictive. It won't be easier from here on out, but it's a step forward.

InsaneAndroid art.. After this color.. traditional first..

Kidding aside, my point is how to define yourself. Art and writing are suppossed to be means to express oneself. I don't want to be a clone. I'm perfectly happy being me, thank you. But the world is so vast, there are so many talented people out there. There are so many things to learn. It's a lesson in humility.

Genzoman art.. This is on another whole level..

I'm so glad I found these hobbies, no maybe they are more than hobbies. They have became neccessity. I need them like water. If life gets shitty, I only have to draw or write a couple of hours. My drawings are not always good, sometimes I draw a line wrong and have to fix it for a long time. But as I finish I lol, I don't know it's just feels right. Writing is more effortless, I can do this anytime and it flows.

The burden seems lighter when I draw or write. I swear no matter what happened yesterday.. I draw or write, go to sleep, when I wake up tomorrow looks so much brighter. I swear to myself, I won't quit. No matter what will happen, regardless will I be successful in life or not, I will not stop. If I stop, I'll go crazy. These are cure for my insanity. Little pieces of heaven on earth.

Anime most tragic deaths (Pt2)

Okay time to wrap this up.

My drawing http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/#/d2ygoq

original art this time :)
I almost make it accidentally a hentai..

On to more deaths:

4. Nina / Alexander (Full Metal Alchemist) Pemain cadangan :P

Nina wasn't all that spectacular character, but it's rare for an anime to kill a girl. Nina was the daughter of an Alchemist, Sou Tucker. His research on chimera led him to his success. There was one thing though, he must used a human. After using his own wife, he used his own daughter and fuse it with her dog, Alexander. Let that sink in. A father actually fuse her daughter with a dog. That's messed up.

After losing most of her mind, she became this abomination, trapped in half dog half human form. Ed and Alphonse didn't take it too well. Nina ultimately freed by Scar. At that point, death seemed like a blessing.

This is sick to the core..

You get the idea...

3. Yagami Light (Death Note)

It's rare for a manga to follow the anti-hero's journey, but Death Note did just that. Yagami actually started off good, he had this idea of killing the bad people and create utopia within earth. A noble idea. If I had Death Note, I probably would have done the same. Yagami started to fail when he became this egomaniac, self-centered psycho that use his everyone within grabing distance as bait and shield just to became god at his new world.

He managed to kill L in the manga, assume his title, but ultimately defeated by Near. His death was also given, Yagami must die. I can't imagine Death Note end otherwise.

The words says it all.

2. Phantom Miria (Claymore)

Another one from Claymore, this one is recent. Anime where sexy chicks meet painful agonizing deaths. Phantom Miria was my fave char. No, I'm not bias. She was intelligent and fast, her speciality was Shunp.. some dash move. She managed to came with a plan everytime things looked desperate. Her composure made her more distinguished in the anime. Kinda ike Shikamaru in Naruto. She hated the organization for using orphans as experiment and discarded them. She was on a crusade.

Now she forced her way alone in the last chapters. The thing is she refused to kill her opponents. Yes, she actually fight to protect her allies and enemies. Little did she know, there were a warrior that can use Confuse. This warrior used her emotions to tricked her. Ans she feel for it..

What a sad end..

Love kills, I guess.

Edit: there is 5% chance Miria didn't die, she flashed or the warrior felt sorry for her and hypnotize the enemies instead, but I highly really doubt it

1. L (Seriously, you don't know?)

L's death was so tragic beacuse he fought for what is truly right. Although extreme measure like Death Note is probabaly needed, but the use itself is nothing more than a genocide. I think L really was the embodiment of justice. He was calm, compose and brilliant. He got many disadvantage though. He didn't know about how the Death Note work exactly, that's why Yagami could pulled off the fake 23 days rule. He also had to follow rules and laws. It would be so much faster and efficient just to get a handgun and shoot Yagami, I would.

But that'd be a betrayal to his cause and very short uninteresting manga. I need to give credit for Tsugumi Ohba. Many mangaka altered their chars appeareance. Zoro from One Piece has been scarred all over, Ichigo had make over everytime he gained new power, Lenalee from D-Gray-Man has her long hiar chopped. But never a mangaka killed off their most favorite character, maybe favorite character of all time. That took some guts, although DN didn't feel the same anymore without L.

Modern version of Judas' Kiss

That's a wrap, folks.

Edit: Holy shit! Bisa2nya si burung sial itu nga mati (-1 respect to Oda)

Anime most tragic deaths

I actually wanted to make amazing One Piece moments or something, but the archieve of earlier chapters are missing.. "cough, cough" banned.. So this is something I made up in short notice. Deaths in anime usually means nothing, Bleach has a bunch of people dead / dying almost every chapter, but do it right it can be memorable or even emotional.

My drawing http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/art/Guilty-Gear-Baiken-177997323

Still has the "something is wrong feeling though"

From this image

So the deaths:

9. Aji Tae (Shin Angyo Onshi)

I think I said this before, but it needs rehearse for its stupidity. Aji Tae was like Aizen, too powerful and overrated. His signature move was "You are dead, I'm not even touching you. MWAHAHAHAH" So how did one like that could possibly got killed. Well the main character, Munsu, step on his robe. I shit you not, it's not stun spell, amazing techinque or secret weapon. He just flipped and didn't realize he couldn't move..

... this happened...

At least he got offed by hot chick..

8. Portgas D Ace (One Piece)

Death of Ace was given. Oda had hinted from his battle with Blakbeard that he would changed the era forever. What better way of delivering that with a memorable death. His death was needed, it couldn't happened any other way, just the thought of him surviving is a betrayal on the anime. So he checked out protecting his brother. Ace was one of the support character that could pulled this off. He only appeared for short period, but was memorable. A testament of Oda's writing skill.

We knew it had to came down to this..

7. Envy (Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Envy was one of the antagonist whose dead actually tragic and emotional. The thing about Envy was he's persistent. Many times he almost died, but always seemed to survived because he's resourceful or lucky. He was arrogant, but yhat changed after he met Roy Mustang. Man, did anyone ever got his ass kicked. He was absolutely outclassed physically. He tried some mind tricks but even that didn't work. In his true worm like form, he was protected by Ed Elric. Ed even tried to comfort him. The more he struggled, the more pitiful he became. Couldn't bear the shame, he offed himself.

True to his name..

6. Teresa of The Faint Smile (Claymore)

One word to describe Claymore is "tragic". The whole anime is one madesu trial after another. One of the best example is Teresa. She was the big sister figure of the main character, Clare. She was absolute beast, ranked Number One. When she went rogue, Number Two until Five were summoned, each with their own speciality. She outclassed them, all four of them and even spared their lives. She was on her way to "Most Badass Female" note but somewhere along the line she took detour to this note.

The once Number Two, Priscillia didn't take the loss very well and awakened.. It's the equivalent of taking too much steroids in Claymore verse. Even then Teresa was still owning. Then came the biggest mistake and probably upset in anime. She showed mercy, Priscilia begged and she took the bait and....

... this happened..

The whole thing took 7 seconds in anime and just 2 pages in manga. It's in the list because the surprise factor and for what its worth, this set-up Priscillia as the perfect antagonist.

5. Bellemere (One Piece)

Yes turn out there is actually One Piece archieve.. Whatever I already half done here.. -.-..

Bellemere is the epitome of kindness. She's the adoptive mother of Nami and Nojiko. She's basically a normal woman. Nami and Nojiko needed her and she needed them as well. It's just a portray of normal family. One day Arlong came by and demanded "protection money" for all head. Nami and Noriko hid, but almost found by Arlong's men. Instead of denying them, she actually openly admitted that they are her children even in the face of death. This flashback was one of the best anime can offer.

I can't find the scene.. It seems to be censored, this will have to do..

To be continue..

Proud to be Indonesian.. At least try to... (Pt2)

Proud to be Indonesian.. At least try to... (Pt2)

by Quincy Theodore on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 7:39pm

So what if you try your hardest, but your surrounding never change? Well find better surrounding. Hey I said "proud to be Indonesian" it doesn't mean you have to live in Indonesia. (Cool pic inside. No, not my drawing) Sometimes one can do more. inspire more regardless of where they live. You have to be the change you desire. I'll show you what I mean.

Err my drawing http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/art/Guilty-Gear-Baiken-177997323?q=sort%3Atime+gallery%3Avividobscura&qo=0

Guilty Gear art is so weird.. That's why I like them..

Pop quiz: Hot chick with nice ass.. but scarred and has a claw for arm? Will you hit that? ^^

So is there any Indonesian out there who is successful abroad, then come back and inspire Indonesian? Well there is one I can think of..

Anggun. Never a name been more befitting.

So why can't all Indonesian be like her.. In national patriotic kinda way, nor pervert kinda way.. I know you guys too well. Why do we (them) care so much about silly matters? Banning Miyabi to Indonesia, Church vs mosque, celebrity scandalous tape etc? There are so many things that need to be done. Economy, crime rate, poverty. When is this nation going to sort its shit?

I know it's very hard to be proud of Indonesia right now, but the fact is you are here now, you have to deal with it. Even you manage to escape to other countries, most of your family and friend are here, more importantly you were born here. That will not change. If you believe God / Karma / Destiny / Universe's will etc, believe that you are put here for a reason.. No, not to escape, but be better and inspire others around you.

Best pencil art I've ever seen.. Yes, it's Indonesian artist
http://toniart57.deviantart.com/art/Take-A-Pray-87068156?q=&qo=

Btw have you ever see "Indonesia Mencari Bakat"? I thought it was a rip-off of "America Got Talent". It kinda is actually.. But the point is some many talented Indonesians out there. I see America Got Talent Season 2 and I can honestly say IMB is better. It seriously diversed, two face, seriosa singer, child drummer / dancer etc. Many of them use Indonesia culture and bring something palatable to wide audience. It's a step toward the right direction. Oh and I think it'll be Hudson or Putri Ayu ^^

I'm proud of my fellow Indonesian can do. I'm proud what Indonesia can (should) become. But to be proud at current Indonesia? Not really.. Hey in case you didn't notice, this note is in English.. But at least I'm trying to..

Indonesian children....

Proud to be Indonesian.. At least try to.. (Pt1)

Be honest, did you ever wish that you're living in other country? Korea, Japan, China, England, USA etc? I can say yes, there are a bunch of times I have this idea, Indonesia is a bad place to live. If only I was born in other countries, my life would be better. A few months ago, I joined deviantart, I saw many talented Indonesian, they are so humble. I feel ashamed really.

Before that my drawing. Before you bash read explanation..

http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/#/d2xriny

I really like this piece.. It feels like I could so much better.. Oh well next time..

From this image

Now there is this way of thinking that if you are successful, you should bail Indonesia. If you don't have mony or relatives abroad, you are screwed, have fun stuck in Indonesia. I have to admit, this is a false way of thinking, I just realized it recently. Let's look at the pros of Indonesia. Yes, like times in elementary school.

Indonesia has a vast resources and beautiful land. It's located in between two ocean, think how many variety of the fish. If Sanji from OnePiece knew about Indonesia, he would have gone to Indonesia rather than searching All Blue. The minerals and gases in Indonesia are plenty. We, by theory, will not and should not be a poor country. If you have been to Bali, you must have seen the white sand, the clear ocean and the amazing sunset. You know the sunset where everyone pause at the beach just staring at it.

Indonesian artist
http://mazjojo.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2i3smf

So how could we go wrong. I think everone can answer this. The goverment is corrupted, debt pilling up, economy sucks etc. We can blame anything and everything. But the matter of fact is, IT DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEMS! So how do you change this? Well like all the changes in the world it started within one self. I always fond of this one quote from Marianne Williamson (A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles)

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Indonesian artist
http://chickobento.deviantart.com/#/d2xomcx

I know it sounds utopia, that everyone will follow our behavior, such wishful thinking. But it's true, simple things do make a difference. Have you ever go to administration, bank, college, driving license? You'll notice how rude the clerks are, no eye contact, no attention. I'll tell you why. It's simple: THEY ARE INSECURE. They assume you will look down at them, so in that moment where they have more authority than you, they make it hard on you. Don't let that gets to you, if you stress about it, they don't even care.

The solution is also simple: Be nice and sincere. The reason they do that is perhaps someone did look down on them. If you have family or friends that work in PR, you know sometimes customer can also be rude. That or they are just bored and dissatisfied of their jobs. It doesn't matter, just don't follow their behavior. This mindset are the downfall of Indonesia. If he's rude, why can't I be? If he's corrupt, why can't I be? It's the idea of our behavior will be the universal maxim. Imannuel Kant said this on his categorical imperative theory. This dude was smart.

Indonesian artist
http://riefra.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2ti6la

So next time you go to bank, municipal byro, even Pizza Hut. Be nice, eye contact, smile, don't be rude. Small things will make a difference. It doesn't matter they are waitress, for now and many years to come, no matter how rich you are, DON'T THINK PEOPLE ARE BENEATH YOU. Not everyone is fortunate.

To be continue.. Still many paragraphs, I don't want to bore you. :)

Naruto vs Bleach.. Eternal Battle for 4th spot

Naruto vs Bleach.. Eternal Battle for 4th spot

by Quincy Theodore on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 8:52am

Poor NaruBleach.. Why No.4? Because there are Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood, One Piece and Death Note. Please don't argue. No matter how you look at them, there is now way that they are better than those guys. Ironically you can bet every country that has manga, there will always be NaruBleach and mainstream always regard them as the best. I think they both suck in kinda good way.

Before that, my drawing.. http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/#/d2xg5xe

NaruBleach have pros and cons. Hey they must did something right to be this famous right? Here they are

Naruto Pros:

+ It appeals to wide audience, from the first chapter, there is a rip-off from Mt.Rushmore. Naruto himself is like punk rebel teen which is targeted to more carefree audience.

+ The battles WERE superb, full of tactical manuever and intelligent strategies. My fave was Shikamaru battles. Outstanding.

+ The story is quiet touching, the final battle of original, Naruto vs Sasuke at Valley of The End was awesome.

+ It gets better in recent chapters.

Naruto Cons:

- Too many unnecessary flashbacks. Seriously why we need flashback of last chapter is beyond me. For good flashback examples, check One Piece or Bleach's Turn Back The Pendulum

- Too focus on Naruto and Sasuke. I said this before.

- The art is just lazy, especially the anime.

- OST for anime are just a bunch of dudes screaming.

- Battles are not engaging anymore.

Bleach Pros:

+ The art is great and stylish. Notice how easy it is to find a wallpaper in every few chapter. You might think it's just one image, but it's not. It's hard to cram that one image in the mandatory 18 pages per week. The onnly great wallie from Naruto was The Jinchuuriki poster from last year, Bleach gives more in this department

+ The combat is fast, especially in anime. NaruBleach both have filler in the anime, Bleach is even longer, but it delivers. Ne OP and ED, the vibrant combat. It doesn't do many things right, but hen it does, it does it brilliantly.

+ OSTs for anime is superb. There must be more than dozen songs that were (and still are) in my playlist.

+ The sword transformations are kinda cool.

Cons:

- Aizen is too powerful

- Too many characters, it loses focus

- Combat might be fast, but story is too slow

- If one char die / defeated, they won't be around for another 100ch

Asst: Capt'n, Naruto is gaining momentum. What should we do?

Kubo: Release The Ichigo!!!

Asst: But what about the training? We always finish training section before?

Kupo: Screw it! We'll do flashback or some shit. It's on!! Ichigo vs Aizen! Right Now!!!

Asst: Aye Aye, Capt'n!... What about Yammy, Byakuya and Kenpa..

Kubo: Sheeeitt! I forgot! It doesn't matter. It's on!! Ichigo vs Aizen! Right Now!!

Who will win? I say Bleach. Naruto is lazy, just look at the shading, just a bunch of lines. The battle n OST in anime is just rehearsed and mostly unchanged for years. The recent chapters are good, the encounter with his parents, the power-up etc. He doesn't spam Naruto afterward, but give Guy some spotlight. That's a good step forward, but a bit too little too late.

Bleach got litte things that show more commitment. The stylish art. The anime is well-drawn. The OST are great and varies, mix of pop, rock, instrumental and even acoustic. It's not perfect, but for everything it fails, there is something that it's good at.

Just to prove a point. This is Naruto best OST imo, the other are Meh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6MZBVKPwxc&feature=related

This is latest Bleach OST, there are ones better, mostly all of them are good, you can see the difference

Well this has been a trivia note.

Edited.. Err I was saying something about her boobs.. whatever
From this image
Great rival.. Also great material for yaoi hentai.. "sigh"
I'll admit this is awesome
Thousand cosplayers saw this and thought. "I'm so gonna do that hairdo"

Facebook messed up the images.. Whatever..

The Expandables review.. minus the first 10 minutes TT

If you don't know or watch The Expandables by now, it's a film about a bunch of mercenaries trying to save an island / damsel in distress from a tyrant / a corporate evil. That's as far as plot goes, but honestly who goes to cinema and hoping to see philosophy drama, although surprisingly there's a fragment of that here. The main draw is definitely all action movie cast, albeit they are somewhat already old. You gotta wonder why is so few action stars nowadays.

Oh before that, I forgot my drawing the previous time..

http://vividobscura.deviantart.com/#/d2wtf2c

Could be better..

From this image

Okay so the plot is barely there, that leaves everything in action. With Stallone making this movie, it's a hit and miss, there are some parts that he did right, but some are well kinda suck. First the cast is awesome, Stallone as fearless all-round leader, who says grandpa can't be muscular. Statham as his BFF, knife throwing dude, he is a good choice and he delivers in this movie. Li as "I need money for my family" martial art guy, his acting is not that good, there are a few dialogues that don't work but that is partially the writer's fault too.

Lundgren as drug lover unstable dude. He shares some screen time like Li and like him, he also struggles in acting department. Terry Crews as the infinite ammo guy, he... Well I think we already established acting isn't this movie strong point. Eric Robert as evil dude with money, Steve Austin as hencemen #1, Coutore as MMA guy.. Nothing remarkable until you sees Mickey Rourke, the tattoo artist. He alone has the best acting here. I read about it in reviews, but I only understood when I watched it.

Testosterone fueled.. Action packed.. Batang semua..

Now, Mickey Rourke earned an Oscar and he deserved it. In mid-way of the movie, there's a scene where Stallone asks him for council. He then delivers reminiscence about his past in some philosophical manner. The dialogue itself is nothing spectacular, a bit rambling even. But he does it with such amazing conviction it becomes believable. His jaws tremble, he sobs and even has teary eyes. Now that's commitment. The sudden shift from shoot'em up to dramatic scene is jarring, especially from this type of movie but it's brilliant in such corny way.

There is also this scene where three biggest 80's action stars first share one screen time. Stallone, Willis and Sch.. Schw... Arnold trash talk to each other. It's funny, although after all this time, I expect something more. If they were younger maybe they would fight. Everyone deliver those macho ego bull shit, but I think the one that got the bad end of deal is Arnold. You know it when you heard the line. Everbody lol.

Terminator is better..
No Rambo is better..
No Die Hard is better..
"cheessseee"

There is also a female character, I don't know her name.. She's not that important really. The important part is the stunt. Full of gore, pain, blood, death and "Oh that's gonna hurt so bad" moments. I said that Hollywood was lacking in stunt recently. This might just what it need to revive it. It's like Stallone wrote a list of "Stunts I wanna do for a long time but so dangerous, so over the-top, it should be illegal" and made this movie based on that. Some moves looks so horrid like the dismemberment, neckbreaker to knee and you should see Henchmen #2 got Ultra Combo-ed by Li and Statham.

It's not all that great though. There are many times that the camera didn't focus and the action is too fast to be coherent. It's a bit confusing really. The shoot-out is an example of that. There is also the issue of improbability, the stunts are sometimes too absurd. But for what it's worth, if you come to see action movie, you will not be dissapointed. Stallone did a great job to make this caliber action movie which is a bit long overdue.

Unfortunately, Stallone failed on some catrgory. The cast is awesome, but it could be much better. I think it's too ambitious for him to direct, write and also star in it. I respect the guy, everyone said he's too old to do "Rocky Balboa", but it came out quiet good. But there are certain things that can be delegated. Take Blade 2 for example, Del Toro directed it and Donnie Yen choreographed it, it's fluid and coherent, I think it's one of the best vampire movie, which reminds me I was supposed to write note to bash Twilite.... Damn.. Oh right rate 7/10.
